My name is Bert Seymour I am
the Casting Kids Coordinator B.A.S.S. Federation Nation of Virginia. In order to ensure that we have accurate
records and no child is accidentally left out, here are the guidelines for
ordering your Casting Kids kits for 2008:
- Please schedule your event at least 4 and a half
weeks (a month) in advance. This is
required by B.A.S.S. so that the event will be covered by insurance
and be a B.A.S.S. sanctioned event.
- You may download the request form from the
Bassmaster web page or copy the one attached to this letter. Go to www.bassmaster.com. Click on about BASS, click on youth and
then casting kids and scroll down to the downloadable form. Fill it out completely and email it to
me or mail it to me. For those of
you planning June events, you might want to order now to avoid the last
minute rush.
- Please open your kit and check to be sure
everything is there upon arrival (jigs, trailers, 3 rods, 3 reels, 3
targets, 3 backstop posters, flags, 2 medallions, competition registration
forms, certificates, magazines and instruction booklet). Please contact me
immediately if something is missing. Please don't wait until the night
before the competition.
- Please read the instruction booklet and pay particular attention to the scoring and
technique sections. There are some
updates in them. Be sure each
participant gets the pink copy of the Competition Registration Form and is
told to keep it. Make sure you
check the child's birthday. Please
remember the cut off date for all events held after the State Finals will
carry over to the next year. This
means the new cut off date will be March 31, 2009.
- After your event, please make sure the
registration forms are filled out completely, check the winner box on the
winning Competition Registration Form, and mail me all of the Competition
Registration forms (white and yellow copies) within 15 days so I can have
a copy and send the white copy to B.A.S.S.
This way I will be able to keep a record of the winners for the
State Finals and we will not miss any child.
If the events are not
reported, the children will not be recognized and we will have some that will
not be able to compete in the State Finals. For those of you who have attended
a championship you know how important this is as the big prize is a scholarship
and a trip to either the Bassmaster Classic or the Federation
Championship. Leaving a child out leads
to disappointment on the part of parents and children and destroys the
credibility of the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation of Virginia, Inc.
If we continue working
together we can have another successful year.
If you have any additional questions, please call or e-mail me.
Sincerely,
Bert Seymour
