The Orange County High School 4-H & Jr. B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Chapter is a group of young anglers ages 11 to 18 who enjoy the thrill and competitiveness of Tournament Bass Fishing. The group organized in 1999 was honored in 2004 as the Nation's Most Outstanding JR. B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Chapter. The Chapter consists of two age brackets - those at Locust Grove Middle School and Prospect Heights Middle School ages 11-14 and those at Orange County High School, ages 15-18. The Chapter also assists, Woods and Water editor, Chris McCotter in the building of Aqua Cribs and trees which are placed in Lake Anna to provide cover for spawning bass. They have taught "Hooked on Fishing" classes to children at Orange Elementary, assisted the Gordonsville Lions with their annual Walker Memorial Tournament- Kids Day at Lake Orange, as well as taken members of the Orange County Nursing Home on a fishing outing. The Chapter is recognized by the OCHS Athletic Department as an alternative team sports and members meeting certain criteria can receive their OC athletic letter.
