BOARD OF DIRECTORS  MEETING

MINUTES:  MARCH  3, 2007

Joan Blankenship, president, called the meeting to order at the Silk Mill Grill in Orange, VA, at 6:00PM. 

Minutes from the last meeting were approved as read; motion by John Britton, Region 1 and second by Bo Copley, Region 3.  All approved.

Treasurer’s report was accepted as read; motion by John Terry, Region 6 and second by Steve Woodroof, Region 2. All approved.

Paul Thomson, Youth Director, introduced Bill Deeds, the new region 9 director.

Becky Gore, Advisor of OCHS Jr. Anglers, wanted to thank the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation of VA, Inc. for attending the OCHS Sports Show and supporting the youth.  Also, thanked John and Cheryl Britton for all of their support for many years.

Old Business:

Federation JWC Championship in Alabama – Joan Blankenship and Becky Gore attended with the youth.

Lake Anna Open Tournament next weekend March 10, 2007 – Sturgeon Creek Marina.

Mr. BASS and Team Championship entry forms on the website.

Drive The Nation Promotion – Accepting new membership until 4/15/07.

Magazine:

• “Hook Set” second issue region directors to take to regions.
• The deadline for submitting articles for our third issue will be April 30, 2007.

Tournament Rules – Ed Clayton made proposal to the board. 

• Change the number of people who can enter the Team Championship Tournaments.  i.e. 2, 4, or 6.
• Entry fees to Federation Nation tournaments are not normally refundable once accepted by the secretary.  However, fees may be refundable in extenuating circumstances by the Federation Nation Board upon written request from the Chapter President.

Mike Bryant, Region 5 motion to accept and Steve Woodroof, Region 2 second.  All Approved.

Conservation:

• Robert Blankenship handed out tournament data collection sheet for clubs to complete and email information after each tournament.

New Business:

Region 1 – John Britton has three upcoming large youth tournaments in May and June.

Region 2 – Steve Woodroof reported new sponsor, Dave’s Tournament and Tackle.  The Elite series will need help for camera boats for the tournament on Smith Mountain Lake in June.

Region 3 – Bo Copley has set the yearly schedule.  Working on a new website.

Region 4 – Dwayne Linkous held day for the region to complete boater safety and 60% participated.

Region 5 – Mike Bryant had meeting with youth and nine new members will meet again next week to set schedule and officers.

Region 6 – John Terry still working on his new youth club.

Region 7 – Sid Ryan attended for Ivan Morris.  All is well with schedule and sponsors.

Region 9 – Bill Deeds new director. 

Region 10 – Ed Clayton excited about the first state youth tournament on Philpott Lake.

Youth – Paul Thomson reported eight new youth clubs forming in Virginia.  

Casting Kids – Bert Seymour reminded everyone to send in participation forms early to get casting kids kits.  Also, make sure the youth use their age as of 2008.

No further business.  John Britton, Region 1 motion to adjourn and John Terry, Region 6 second.

Next state  meeting is a breakfast meeting on  August 12, 2007 in South Hill, VA.
